Packages

From AIXTOOLS
Jump to: navigation, search

This page groups software packages by source (such as ASF, GNU and OpenBSD) or by theme (e.g., Security). Eventually there will be (at least) one internal wiki page for anything available here.

So you want to know what is here and is "GNU", go to the GNU section. Looking for Apache Software Foundation Projects - See ASF-Apache. "Original" software is in the category AIXTOOLS.

AIXTOOLS

These are projects of my own where I manage the sources myself.

ASF ASF - Apache Software Foundation

Apache web server is their first - and best known project. And this is the project that motivated me to develop buildaix

Starting with Apache 2.4 the APR API and utilities were moved outside the HTTPD Server Project - so all three are needed for an install.

Note: I am considering a bundled package of APR and HTTPD because APR is dependent on the compiler used (xlC or gcc).

In the current HTTPD source downloads the is a script build/aix/buildaix.ksh. This is how the package here was built (with xlC v11). As such, the installp packages begin with ASF rather than aixtools.

For my own packaging I am now relying on my buildaix package (inspired by what I did for httpd, but that was too restricted) so the package names are all starting with aixtools.something starting with httpd-2.2.31 (and httpd-2.4.16 once I release that)

httpd-2.2 httpd.2.4
GNOME

These are packages that have their origins in the GNOME project. They are needed as dependencies for other projects.

GNU
GCRYPT
Python

aka CPYTHON - has two versions of Python - Python2 and Python3.
For historical reasons aixtools.python is the product name for Python2. As of December 2016 aixtools.python3 is the product name for Python3

openBSD

OpenBSD is a software foundation that produces a new version of the OS openBSD about every 6 months. They release tools in two releases - for openbsd and so-called portable versions that include bits needed for other operating systems. They are best known for maintaining openssh. Additionally, they started a new release of the OpenSSL API named libreSSL.

SourceForge
MISC

These are packages from various sources - not big enough, like GNU - to be a separate section.

Other Tools are filesets that are not packaged as part of a larger context - e.g., GNU.
If the page for something has not been made - you should find the fileset I have packaged in http://download.aixtools.net/tools
